OSSTF’s Active Retired Members is organized at both the provincial and district levels.

Provincial

At the provincial level there is an ARM Council. The ARM Council consists of eight members. At this point in time, each member represents one of the existing chapters. Those chapters are Chapter 9 (Greater Essex), Chapter 11 (Thames Valley), Chapter 12 (Toronto), Chapter 17 (Simcoe), Chapter 21 (Hamilton-Wentworth), Chapter 22 (Niagara), Chapter 25(Ottawa-Carleton/Renfrew/Upper Canada), and Chapter 29 (Hastings-Prince Edward). Also serving on the Council is a representative of the Provincial Executive, a member of the Secretariat, and a Provincial Council Liaison.

If you are a visitor from either District/Chapter 9 (Greater Essex) or District/Chapter 29 (Hastings-Prince Edward), and you wish to know more about joining those chapters, just click on the appropriate link and Email a message.

Chapter

Each chapter is required to have an Executive of at least four members consisting of a President, Secretary, Treasurer or Secretary/Treasurer and one other person.

Chapter 25 has opted to have a Core Group Executive. What this means is that we have a voluntary executive—anybody who wishes to serve on the executive is welcome to join it. We are fortunate to have a large group of people who have agreed to meet roughly five times a year to decide on how the chapter should proceed. Should it be necessary, we designate individuals to fill the required constitutional roles.

In 2008-2009 the following people have agreed to give up their time to help make sure that the chapter continues to serve its members: Bruce Baker ,Howard Briggs, Dave Campbell, Larry Capstick, Bruce Fink ,Gayle Lanoue ,Clare Noon, Meredith Norman, Peter Norman, Norma Sharkey, Dwayne Skinner, Terry Taller, Brenda Worthing-Jones

During Chapter 25’s third year, the District Presidents of District 26 (Upper Canada) and District 28 (Renfrew) felt that, given the geographic arrangements of their districts, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to create a formal ARM Chapter in their districts. They agreed that, to ensure that their ARM members gain a local tangible benefit of membership in ARM, that their districts be linked with the ARM members in District 25 to form District 25 (Ottawa-Carleton/Renfrew/Upper Canada). Serving on the Core Group from Upper Canada we are fortunate to have Bruce Baker and Norma Sharkey. We are also fortunate that our Core Group consists of representatives from both the former Carleton Board of Education and the former Ottawa Board of Education

Individuals who have general questions about health insurance should contact Dave Campbell. Questions relating to details about the ARM Health Plan should be directed to OTIP.

District Executives

Chapter 25 is fortunate to have the full support of the Executive of District 25 and District 26. This has ensured that those personnel in the schools are fully aware of Chapter activities. The various bargaining unit executives ensure that their members are apprised of the benefits of membership in ARM and, in particular, Chapter 25
